How ImgShrink Tests Image Tools

This page explains how ImgShrink checks image tools, format guidance and benchmark figures.

Updated October 8, 2026

What we test

ImgShrink checks common image tasks such as compression, conversion, resizing, metadata inspection, EXIF cleanup, color sampling, DPI math, print-size calculations, upload requirement handling and public URL image checks.

Test images are grouped by practical use: photos, screenshots, transparent graphics, interface images, social media images, print layouts and mixed web assets.

What we measure

For image output tasks, ImgShrink records file size, pixel dimensions, output format, transparency behavior, metadata status and visible quality checks at normal viewing sizes.

For browser-based tools, results are checked in current browser workflows because encoders, Canvas behavior and file APIs can differ across browser versions.

Limits of test results

Compression and conversion results vary by source detail, noise, transparency, dimensions, browser encoder and selected settings. A benchmark result is a tested reference, not a guarantee for every file.

Upload requirement tools check hard file rules such as format, size, dimensions, ratio and metadata. They do not judge official approval factors such as expression, lighting, background, age of photo or document policy changes.

How pages are updated

A page is reviewed when tool behavior changes, browser support changes, public platform specifications change or a content correction is reported.

Each page shows an updated date that reflects a real content, test or source review.
